Smart Adjustable Lockers
When we met with the problem of equipment being too bulky and strangely sized to fit into conventional lockers, inspiration struck.
SALs was designed and prototyped in 2 months as part of the Introduction to Design module in university.
SALs was a wicked problem with both mechanics and algorithm to tackle. We prototyped different iterations for the door and divider mechanisms, and innovated a Tetris-inspired matrix algorithm for an optimal sorting algorithm.
The final prototype features a 3x3 smart locker system with a UI that demonstrates the algorithm. Simply indicate the shape intended to fit into the locker, and the algorithm will identify the optimal location and open the intended locker slots.
